Dr. Hartfield - Owner/Lead Veterinarian

Dr. Hartfield holds two associate degrees, a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Texas A&M University, and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University. Following graduation, she began her career in mixed animal practice in Cushing, Oklahoma, where she discovered her passion for mentoring future veterinarians.

That passion inspired the creation of the Dr. Hartfield Book Series—a five-book collection designed to help children learn about responsible pet care while inspiring curiosity about veterinary medicine and animal health.

In 2019, Dr. Hartfield became the proud owner of Holdenville Veterinary Clinic, where she continues to provide compassionate, high-quality care for both large and small animals. In 2024, she expanded her mission of service and education by opening Hartfield Veterinary Clinic Urgent Care in Mannford, Oklahoma.

When she’s not in the clinic or writing her next book, Dr. Hartfield enjoys spending time at the lake, skiing, and riding horses with her husband, Preston, and their son, Paden.

Tara is married to her husband, Kelly, and together they have a large, close-knit family that includes five children, eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Outside of the clinic, she stays busy caring for her three dogs and two cats, as well as helping manage their family cattle farm.

Gabby - Veterinary Assistant

Gabby has had a passion for veterinary medicine from a very young age. While most kids were watching cartoons, she was inspired by shows like The Incredible Dr. Pol and knew early on that she wanted a future in animal care.

She is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in Animal Science and plans to attend veterinary school. Gabby’s enthusiasm for the field is evident in her eagerness to learn, as she values the opportunity to gain knowledge each day that will one day help her make a difference in the lives of her patients.

Outside of the clinic and classroom, Gabby enjoys spending time with her four dogs at home. She has a particular fondness for large breed dogs and loves being surrounded by them.

Avery is heading into her senior year of high school and has already become a valued member of our team. She enjoys the opportunity to meet and learn about the many different animals and breeds that come through our clinic each day, making her role both exciting and educational.

Outside of the clinic, Avery is an accomplished vocalist. She and her ensemble partner earned a superior rating at the state choir contest last year—an achievement that reflects her dedication and talent.

At home, Avery cares for a variety of animals, including her dog Sadie, a cat, a rabbit, and a flock of chickens. She has a strong interest in dog training and hopes to pursue a future working with dogs professionally, with a particular passion for supporting the service dog and working dog community.
